{"id":383,"date":"2021-01-07T19:50:00","date_gmt":"2021-01-07T18:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.vermeerschconsulting.be\/?p=383"},"modified":"2021-04-04T09:44:19","modified_gmt":"2021-04-04T07:44:19","slug":"pre-provision-bitlocker-task-fails-with-error-80070057-in-configuration-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.vermeerschconsulting.be\/index.php\/2021\/01\/07\/pre-provision-bitlocker-task-fails-with-error-80070057-in-configuration-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Pre-provision BitLocker Task Fails With Error 80070057 In Configuration Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After upgrading to Configuration Manager 2006 and modifying the BitLocker steps (<strong>Enable BitLocker<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Pre-provision BitLocker<\/strong>) in an OSD task sequence to use the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/mem\/configmgr\/core\/plan-design\/changes\/whats-new-in-version-2006#improvements-to-bitlocker-task-sequence-steps\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/mem\/configmgr\/core\/plan-design\/changes\/whats-new-in-version-2006#improvements-to-bitlocker-task-sequence-steps\" target=\"_blank\">new encryption features<\/a>, I experienced error 80070057 at the &#8220;Pre-provision BitLocker&#8221; step, the &#8220;Enable BitLocker&#8221; step was working correctly using the new settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>In the logs I found the following error. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-syntaxhighlighter-code \"><pre class=\"brush: plain; auto-links: false; gutter: false; title: ; quick-code: false; notranslate\" title=\"\">\n==============================&#x5B; OSDOfflineBitlocker.exe ]==============================\nRunning module version 5.0.8968.1000 from location &#039;X:\\sms\\bin\\x64\\OSDOfflineBitlocker.exe&#039;\nCommand line: &quot;OSDOfflineBitlocker.exe&quot; \/enable \/ignoretpm:False \/full:False \/crypt:7\nInitialized COM\nCommand line for extension .exe is &quot;%1&quot; %*\nSet command line: &quot;OSDOfflineBitlocker.exe&quot; \/enable \/ignoretpm:False \/full:False \/crypt:7\nFALSE, HRESULT=80070057 (main.cpp,380)\nProcessCommandLine(argInfo), HRESULT=80070057 (main.cpp,430)\nInvalid command line argument &#039;\/crypt&#039;\ufeff\n<\/pre><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Since we are using custom boot images that are not automatically updated after the upgrade, we ended up using an older version of OSDOfflineBitlocker.exe. You see the version in the older boot image is not recognizing the &#8220;\/crypt&#8221; parameter.
